AROUND THE AUBERGE
DE L'ABBAYE

The mediaeval village of Saint-Antoine-l'Abbaye grew up around
its abbey... which contains relics
of Saint Anthony brought back from Egypt in 1070 by a nobleman from the Dauphiné. The Dauphiné region has a special charm and an abundance of surprises to offer the visitor: honey and mead fabric to visit in the village, the Chatte Railway Garden, Postman Cheval’s "Palais idéal" in Hauterives, the hanging houses of Pont-en-Royans, or Saint-Marcellin where the famous little cheeses are matured...
